This test is for patients experiencing respiratory problems, such as: coughing, wheezing or difficulty while deep breathing or being considered for lung operations. This test is designed to measure the levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide and bicarbonate in the blood found in your arteries in order to determine how well your lungs are working. The test evaluates the ability of the lungs to move oxygen into the blood and remove carbon dioxide from the blood.
Before the test
- Please arrive 15 mins before your scheduled appointment time, giving you time for registration.
- You MUST NOT take short acting bronchodilator for 4 hours prior to testing and long acting bronchodilators for 12 hours prior to testing.
